Based on a dating sim by the same name, To Heart is a 1997 series
unreleased in the West available
via fansubs. The story follows the lives of a group of high
school students and the 13 part anime probably
mirrors the gameplay. To Heart is a show about a group of high
school students (2 guys, 7 girls) who
are just nice to each other, kind, caring and compassionate.
Needless to say the main character is in love
with the main male lead, yet being friends from childhood he
doesn't fully realise this, not in the beginning at least.
To Heart suprised me. It does not contain any lewdness or
chauvinistic behaviour and it's actually fun.
Get this, there are NO panty shots or SHOWER scenes. NONE. No
NUDITY.
It is a show which is well......hehe......about well I already
said. Watching it inbetween reruns of CNN
showing violence made me think how trully bitter our world is and
how an ideal peaceful society
based on mutual self-respect and love as in To Heart - how nice a
real world To Heart would be :).

Kamigishi Akari
Main
character, that's her, Ms Kamigashi Akari, quiet, reserved and
ever so
faithful and loving. The girl with a HUUUUUGE heart. Ah *sigh*
wish all women were that way. She really has a huuuge heart
and she's forever enchanted by the guy below.
Nagaoka Shiho
She's a
second. She's very forward and well likes ho have fun ie KARAOKE
and always gets concert tickets out of nowhere. She also knows
everything about the other school students.
The main male
lead, Hiroyuki, is a childhood friend of Akari's and well he's a
very slow almost
slothy character. Yet all the girls like him :).
Satoh Masashi
is the second male co-lead. He's actually a nice guy like the
bloke above yet without the
laziness.
A very quiet,
Kurusugawa Serika, is yet another character.
A rather
serious class monitor, Hoshina Tomoko. She has her funny moments
though.
Miyauchi
Lemmy, likes to practice archery as well as wear colourful socks
with her
school uniform. She's usually very loud and also has a loud yet
appreciable laugh.
Matsubara Aoi,
is also a grappler (she likes martial arts). She has a rather low
self-esteem, however she is an achiever.
A very cute
Multi[HMX-12] hehe. She's fun too.
Himekawa
Kotone, well she's quite sad at times, but she pulls through.
Hinayama Rio, is
easily embarassed (she blushes) whenever she sees
the main male lead. She also has a big crush on him. She's a
caring person and well works long hours after school to get her
kid brother a present.
As you can see the cast is a unique bunch, well not really,
but they are unique in that they are a benevolent group
of souls who coexist in this small Japanese town and attend the
same school.
The Series is 13 parts long. You can get it from CD JAPAN or
Mutoanime or many places on the web. There is no
R1 release yet. I've made my own enquiries and there may be one
in the near future. If you like Tenchi and Love Hina
and want a mellow story with mild romance, diginity for fellow
humans, humour and emotion go for TO HEART.
