Sasami with her sister and Ryo-ohki
There is no excuse for not knowing who Sasami is >.^, hehe
seriously, Sasami is just an anime character from Tenchi Muyo! and Mahou Shoujo Pretty Samy (Magical Girl Pretty Samy) who well depicts some of the better
human traits so I decided to use her name as my nickname on the web. She's also
my favourite character, mainly because she's really a good person and well who
else that you know has such long blue hair which travels ahead of you and such
large pink eyes (like a rabbit's)? I won't produce Sasami's stats here, there
are plenty of places to find these, suffice to say, she's a giggler, a great
cook, dependable and well brings a unique edge to Tenchi Muyo. Also, she's very kawaii.....hehe, but that's not the main reason.
Sasami is about 8 years old in Tenchi Muyo. In Tenchi Muyo OAV
she's 708 years old in fact - this is due to a period of time she spent in
hibernation aboard her sister's (Ayeka's) ship while en route to Earth. Sasami
is typically very soft spoken with a good bit of cheerfulness in her voice, and although she has a tinge of mischief she's
more often than not concerned about everyone. She's also very dependable.
Together with Kiyone (Mihoshi's hot partner) Sasami seems the only sane person
in the entire show.
Not suprising there are a number of sites devoted to this great character: The Sasami Shrine LOL - shrine to Sasami and of course the #SAS# or the Sasami Appreciation Society - Right Here. You can even subscribe to join the Sasami Appreciation Society. Oh well if that's a bit too much for you...don't worry, watching Tenchi Muyo and supporting Samy verbally, with banners and posters is enough. The Anti-anti Sasami site is full of reasons why Sasami is so likeable, perhaps "You're always nice to everyone, even those you don't like." Sasami.Org is also a cool site. Amelia's Sasami Group is another Sasamilicious site for you to visit.
Other really cool Sasami sites would be AngelofPurity's
Sasami Site , Sasami-Chan's Sasami
Lair and Sasami's Pretty
Page.
These sites are really special and are the work of very devoted Sasami Fans.

Do you know where the names of the characters of Tenchi Muyo come from? Well Tanaka-san, gives a short explanation:
"You may know Hiroshima, where
US has thrown Atomic bomb in WWII. Okayama is the neighbour to Hiroshima.
In Tenchi-muyo, Masaki Tenchi lives in Kurashiki City in Okayama Prefecture. In
Okayama, there are Mt.Washu, which is the origin of the name of a scientist
girl, Village of Kiyone and Bisei (you can also read this Kanji as Mihoshi), Sami
Beach (the name Sasami is from this beach).
So about 10 years ago, when Tenchi-muyo was so popular in Japan, many Otaku came
in Okayama, I heard.
Usually foreign people visit Hiroshima because this city is more famous. But
Okayama would be also nice, even if there are no statue of Sasami or Ryoko."
Sasami's voice is performed by Yokoyama Chisa (also does Sakura Shinguji in
Sakura Wars) while the English voice is done by Katie Ashley and in some cases
by Sharyn Scott.
Why I like Sasami so much. Everyone by now knows that
Sasami is cute (kawaii) and we can give that to her. However there is something
else which is especially good about her. Sasami at first appears to be a quiet,
low profile character in fact she's pretty much a nobody. She's a kid sister in
a house full of maniacs each of whom holds mysterious and potentially
destructive powers. However, Sasami seems not to have any special powers other
than her giggle and her (almost) always cheery upbeat personality. Sasami
however holds the key to the show. She's the little guy who climbs up to the top
from nothing. Her powers are hidden and by far the most powerful of any one else
in the show. However to employ these powers to save the world and everyone
Sasami must make use of her own courage and goodwill and this is what makes this
little anime girl a total hero in my book. Anime shows are littered with small
cute characters with pseudo-naive personalities but its only Sasami who rules
this part of the web, hehe.
A mention of Sasami without a mention of that cute Ryo-ohki would not be correct. Ryo-ohki
is a cat-rabbit-spaceship or a cabbit for short and is usually found close to Samy. Ryo-ohki is seen below,
hehe.

Sasami appears in Tenchi Muyo OVA (ie Tenchi Muyo Ryo-ohki), The Mihoshi Special, Tenchi Universe (Tenchi TV), Tenchi in Tokyo (Shin Tenchi Muyo), the 3 Tenchi Muyo Movies and the Pretty Samy series (both OVA and the TV series which is known as Magical Project S). Pretty Samy - sort of a superman version of Sasami but much cuter ^-^ appears in Pretty Samy OVA (3 eps) and the TV series aka Magical Project S (26 episodes). She also appears in the Mihoshi Special and Tenchi Universe (guest appearances). All these versions are available on DVD or VHS from region 1 and region 2 (Japan) retailers. Some are also available in Europe as well. There are also numerous Tenchi Muyo mangas - comics available in bookshops around the world. There are numerous CDs with various Sasami OPs available.
Sasami's theme music is a very sweet instrumental piece which often introduces her. You can get an idea of what it sounds like by clicking here. This is what Sasami's voice sounds like in English.
The background music being played is the opening
theme from Pretty Samy.
